This section of our site describes the process of making
a railroad module. A module is a section of track and scenery
designed to connect with other modules to form a larger train layout.
This particular module will be part of a new leg that we are adding to
the large N-scale layout at the Texas City Museum. The module
will have a mountain, a tunnel, a scratch-built bridge, and probably
some animation as well. This should make for an interesting
project.
Over the next few months, we intend to show the process
of creating the module from after bench work to completion (although it
will most likely never be entirely complete). Generally,
we work on the layout for a couple of hours a couple of times a week.
The GCMRRC has a lot of experienced members who are
always willing to lend a hand and help out. Even in the initial
phases of the project their advice has been invaluable. If you're
new to this process don't be shy about asking for help... its the
quickest way to learn and avoid costly mistakes along the way.
Lets get started...
