There are many different types of modules. So that
most modules are compatible with modules that other fellow modelers have created,
standardization to a few popular versions has become common practice.
Most of the modules in our club are N-Track, which has three lines of
track on the front portion of the module that enter one end and continue through the other side.
However, this module will make use of Bend Track, which has two lines of
track on each side.
It is important to measure accurately when creating a
module so that all lines of track will meet the lines of track from
other modules as close as possible. Be sure to measure from the
middle point of the left and right sides of the module you're creating,
not from the edge. Also, be sure to measure from the middle point
of the module to the middle point of the track you'll be placing on the
module. For example, Bend Track standards call for track centers
to be 8.5" and 10.0" from center on both sides. Don't measure to
8.5" and then add 1.5" for the second track. Instead take both
measurements from center (as shown below).
We used a black sharpie to trace out the center line for
the track. Be sure to visit our
track laying tips before you prepare
your layout or module.
