The top of the module is made of 1/2" fir plywood.
We needed to cut a hole in the top of the layout to make room for the
mountain and the ravine. There are many types of saws to choose from to make the cut outs. One of our members had a RotoZip radial saw,
which made the job quick and easy. The cuts don't necessarily have
to be accurate since they will be covered with scenery. We worked
around the cross pieces in the framework so that the module would still
have good stability.
Now that the cuts are finished, lets move on to
laying the road bed>>>
